Dolphins, a Fish Friend, and Energy in the Ocean
I had an experience while snorkelling that I’ll never forget. A friend and I were out in the ocean when we noticed a pod of dolphins in the bay. We could hear their clicks and whistles echoing through the water as they moved about their day.
Wanting to be respectful, we stayed where we were, simply floating and observing from a distance. I began to run energy while we floated there, and almost immediately the dolphins grew curious. They came closer — still keeping a respectful space — and began making eye contact with us. From below, they sent up streams of bubbles, and a couple of mothers even brought their calves over to show us.
It was a beautiful moment of quiet connection. We didn’t try to approach or touch them; we just stayed still, allowing them to choose their level of interaction.
While this was happening, something unexpected occurred. A fish, about a foot long, started swimming very close to me — gently bumping along my body and positioning itself directly in front of my mask, almost nose to nose. It stayed with me like this for quite some time, following me as I eventually made my way back toward the rocky shoreline.
As I sat on a rock, still chest-deep in the water and taking off my fins, the fish remained in my lap as if keeping me company. When the next wave lifted me higher onto the rock, it finally swam away.
I’ve never experienced anything quite like it before — curious dolphins around us, and a little fish friend who seemed to enjoy the energy just as much. It was one of those moments that reminds me how naturally energy connects us all.
